Metricum · Last updated 6 July 2026
Metricum ("the app", "we", "us") helps researchers follow their scholarly impact by
tracking public Google Scholar and PubMed metrics. This policy explains what we collect,
why, and your choices. By using Metricum you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Email address — used for passwordless sign-in (we email you a one-time code) and to identify your account.
- Researcher configuration you provide — the Google Scholar profile link (author id) and PubMed search query you enter during onboarding, so we can fetch the corresponding public metrics.
- Subscription status — whether you have an active Metricum Pro subscription, managed through Apple and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Push notification token — if you enable notifications, a device token so we can send you updates about your metrics.
- Metric snapshots — the citation, h-index, and publication counts we fetch for your configured profile, stored to show trends over time.
We do not collect your name from any source other than what you optionally provide, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
How we use your information
- To fetch and display your Google Scholar and PubMed metrics and their trends.
- To send the sign-in code and, if enabled, push notifications about changes to your metrics.
- To generate AI insights that summarise changes in your metrics.
- To manage your subscription and unlock Pro features.
Third-party services
To provide the app, limited data is shared with:
- Apple — processes in-app subscription purchases.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status. Receives an anonymized user identifier.
- Anthropic — generates AI insights. Your metric snapshots (citation counts, h-index, publication counts) are sent to produce summaries; this data is not used to train models.
- SerpAPI & Google Scholar — source of citation and h-index data for the public profile you configure.
- PubMed (NCBI) — source of publication data for the query you configure.
- Amazon Web Services — hosts our backend and stores your account data.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and
all associated data at any time from within the app: Settings → Delete Account.
Deletion removes your user record, sessions, device tokens, cached metrics, and configured
researcher profile.
Push notifications
Notifications are optional. You can disable them at any time in the iOS Settings app under
Notifications, or by not granting notification permission.
Children
Metricum is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the
